Alex Stewart International provide a vast range of services to commercial clients and governments in more than 38 countries where they maintain laboratories and sampling operations. Together the companies in the network have become one of the largest providers of analytical services for metals and minerals in the world and the foremost operational auditor of mining concerns for government control purposes.

Chairman: K Alexander Stewart, C.Chem. F.R.S.C. M.I.M.M
Mr. K Alex Stewart founded the Alex Stewart International organization in 1978 after first gaining extensive experience in all aspects of sampling and assaying. Advancing from basic laboratory duties, Alex Stewart went on to gain a First Class Honours degree in chemistry and become an Associate and Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chemistry. Alex Stewart has more than 45 years of experience in the metal business.
Alex Stewart was at the vanguard of developing modern assaying techniques and undertook research works in Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy as a new analytical method, especially for the determination of gold and silver.
While working at Alfred H. Knight, he introduced the company to the full Platinum Group Analysis associated with both Atomic Absorption and Fire Assay techniques. Later he was involved in the sampling of complex precious metals, and he also spent considerable time performing bulk cargo inspections for shipments of grain, sugar, edible oil and fertilizers at major European and South American ports. In 1967 Alex Stewart became a Director of Alfred H. Knight and was largely responsible for the worldwide expansion of the company during the next decade.
In 1977 he left AH Knight to start his own company Alex Stewart Assayers and built up a comprehensive inspection and laboratory business in Knowsley, Liverpool and continued putting his knowledge of the metal business, managerial and people skills toward building up the network of other Alex Stewart companies to become one of the leading independent inspection and metal assayers in the world, acknowledged and accredited by reputable and well known metal institutions such as IPMI, LME, BIR and LBMA.
In 2004, Alex Stewart Agriculture was founded merging with A. Norman Tate and Huson and Hardwick Laboratories to provide GAFTA, FOSFA inspection and UKAS accredited analysis of all soft commodities such as grains, oilseeds, oils and fats to traders, millers, refiners and farmers mainly in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Peru, Thailand, UK and the Ukraine.
In 2010, AS Metallurgy’s specialist metal laboratory became the newest group partner to provide inspection and analytical services to the metal industry and become the business hub of the Alex Stewart International network of inspection offices.
In 2013, Alex Stewart will further expand its analytical services with the incorporation of a new expansive metals laboratory which is located in Sefton Science and Business Park, Liverpool, England.
President and Chief Executive Officer: Dr. Enrique Segura
Dr. Enrique Segura has held top executive positions within the financial and service sectors for the past twenty years and has extensive experience working with governments and managing large international companies. Dr. Segura was the president of SWIPCO, U.S.A., an international company providing procurement services to governments. He has also served as president and chief executive officer of ICS Inspection and Control Services Ltd., a company established to provide governments with services designed to increase their customs revenues, and Pricesaroundtheworld.com, an Internet company that provides comparative price information, price research and data mining services to members through its Web site. He has worked as an economist for the Inter-American Development Bank and as a financial officer for industrial sector projects for the World Bank. Dr. Segura was also the chairman of the Trust for the Americas and, since 1996, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Uganda in Argentina. He holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration and MBA.
Chief Operating Officer – Government Business: Erwin Flores
Mr. Flores has more than 25 years of professional experience, including 20 years in the management of governmental projects. He was executive vice president of SWIPCO USA, an international company providing procurement services to governments. A senior advisor to the president of the company, Mr. Flores was chiefly engaged in the development of company programs. He has also served as executive vice president of ICS Inspection and Control Services Ltd., a company established to provide governments with services designed to increase their customs revenues, and of Pricesaroundtheworld.com, an Internet company that provides comparative price information, price research and data mining services to members through its Web site. Prior to that, Mr. Flores was responsible for the development of spacecraft operations systems for NASA and INTELSAT. He holds a degree in physics .
